Trust me, I'm speaking out of experience.

They'll come back one day, they always do.
And I'm speaking out of experience. It's not hard to forget GW and actually live life *gasp*.

MMORPGs are the most addicting games, so yes most people who tried out an MMO once will keep checking back.

Since I play Guild Wars, 1 month of being banned would make me go into a denial? Speak for yourself.

If by denial you understand going onto unofficial fan forums to post into threads of negative feedback about the game's developer's stance on players on the red team resigning in 1 of the PvP forms while staying completely off topic, then yes.

No, I'm saying if you do get tempbanned while you are really into playing the game (that much that you farm RR in HB), you will want to come back even more after your ban is over.

I don't know about you, but I play this game for fun in my free time. I visit forums in my free time because I like reading. I also like sharing opinions on forums.

Have you ever been banned for an extended period of time while you were just getting into what would be considered at the time of your ban "end game"?

Not in Guild Wars, but another MMO I have got banned for 3 months(if you care you can ask why). You know what I did? Carried out my life like normal, but filling my "game time" with other games that I enjoy.

that's not really what you said the 1st time
so doing RR is the bottom of the barrel eh?
in which way is it worse than UWSC/farming in general...
RR is more boring for sure but still uwsc takes just a bit more effort but the repetitiveness is still there...and after a couple of times it gets boring as well...

I'm going crazy from just hearing my alliance rave about RR day. I need somewhere to put my thoughts:

1. I don't participate in RR day at all. I find it goes against the spirit of competitive play, but hey, everyone already knows this.
2. Anet had several opportunities to putting out a quick fix for this, from a. putting dishonor on resigning. b. removing hb from zaishen. c. removing blue/red colors and any other means to manipulate.
3. What advantage would there be to keep this going on? The only advantage would be to collect the names of the players.
4. What disadvantage would there be? The market bottoms out (except as it has been noted, most keys are actually used, making the market still fairly stable). The spirit of competitive play is, and I put this as lightly as I can, dragged through the cesspools of greed.
a. The economic stability point is not big. but the fact that millions of equivalent wealth are accumulated nearly every minute throws a giant cloud over the financial aspect.

5. There are three things ANet could be doing then. They are:
a. Collecting names to ban or other similar drastic account options. It will be a very meaningful retort from Anet. The decrease of a player base might be detrimental, but with GW2 coming out, I don't think it's that bad of an option for ANet. I don't like this scenario though. It only contains punishment options.
b. Giving rewards to the people who don't do it. I like this option, since I would fall inside of it (yes, I see the ironic greed lol). I don't see how they could do anything that could match the value of the keys I did not get.
c. They aren't going to do anything and just wait for HB to go away and then continue on. This is extremely shameful, but I can see the advantages of the this option: No work and the effects aren't that bad since the market will still be relatively stable. The rise of zkey prices would be offset by all the people just stockpiling them instead of using them.

d. Any other options? I'm sure there are others and I'd like to hear them.

doubt they ban anyone, why?

There's no official announcement that it's cheating.. yes I know they said it somewhere on the wiki, but not everyone checks it.. someone who just plays and hears of RR in game might think "oh nice I can make money there" without knowing that it's cheating.
I think if they wanted people to stop or ban them, they could just easily make an ingame announcement or put it on the login screen.

add like 500 different colors...they'd have to make a list of 250 colors that would resign...gl with that :P

RR involves no skill whatsoever, you circumvent the intent of the game.

RR is also against the EULA since it falls under match manipulation. You manipulate the outcome of matches by deciding beforehand which team will leave so that you can get free rewards from a repeatable quest.

In World of Warcraft, people doing Win-Trading in Arena have been temp banned, given a final warning, and have had ALL of their PvP gear ever acquired taken away.

I don't think Ignorance is a legit defense in any capacity, Avalanche.

Again, ArenaNet would be much better off tackling the problem at it's root.

Simply put up an announcement on the login screen as a reminder, and then ban everyone who does RR and take away all of their Zaishen Keys or other expensive items.

Or they could take out the quest, instead of banning people. No one gets hurt.
